PRSD putting AISI funding to good use

Improving academic success, satisfaction of students and parents and levels of student, staff and parent engagement were the focus of Prairie Rose School Division’s (PRSD) Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) Cycle 4.

Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) in the southeast corner of Alberta is partnering with two other school divisions to create an open learning consortium.
“We’ve had tremendous interest talking about possible partnerships and increased student learning opportunities,” Superintendent Doug Nicholls, told trustees at the Dec. 11 regular board meeting.

Students who earned first in a bus safety poster contest were honoured by the Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) officials the morning of Dec. 11.

A group of photographers converged on Manyberries earlier this fall, to capture images from the small community. The results of their photo challenge was then posted to a website owned by a couple who have made a career helping others improve their photography techniques.

For the second year in a row, trustees with the Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) were surprised to see their books turn from red to black.

SEAWA’s IWMP strategic plan discussed

A general meeting for those with an interest in the work of the South East Alberta Watershed Alliance (SEAWA) was a chance to see the strategic plan for the organizations Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP).

There were no major revisions done to the 2012-13 budget at a special meeting of the Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) Nov. 27, but concern again was raised about how officials will balance the books in 2013-14.

Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) board trustees agreed to commit to signing a 25-year contract to be supplied electricity through a potential wind power project.

Eight Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) students will receive $1,000 Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) scholarships from the Alberta government.
