The R.M. of Swift Current Fire Department is warning area residents to be extra careful of the dry conditions at the moment.

The caution came after R.M. of Swift Current firefighters responded to a grass fire located 10 kilometres west of Swift Current on Friday afternoon, May 10.
The department used two fire trucks and seven firefighters in response to the call that came in at around 4:45 p.m.
It took them three hours to extinguish the fire and another two hours to put out all the smouldering hot spots.
“The R.M. Fire Department would like to thank all the people who stopped and helped to extinguish the fire,” Fire Chief Louis Cherpin said in a media release.
He noted that conditions are extremely dry at the moment and the R.M. Fire Department is therefore asking people to be mindful not to do anything that can cause a fire.
“We have responded to many calls in the past couple of weeks due to the dry conditions,” he said.
