The Great Plains College Scholarship Fund has been announced as the beneficiary of the fifth annual Bill Lee Family Par 3 Golf Tournament.

Scheduled for Aug. 23 at Elmwood Golf Course, the tournament will feature hole-in-one prizes for every hole including cash, cars and travel vouchers, to name just a few.

Great Plains College awarded over $236,000 in scholarships in 2012-13.

“This partnership is another big step forward for the college,” said Director of Development Marc Butikofer. “The generosity of Bill Lee and his family will prove invaluable in the lives of our students as they pursue their post-secondary goals and beyond.”

Past recipients of tournament funds have included the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, the Military Family Resource Centre and the Four Broncos Memorial.

The tournament has an unofficial capacity of 180 golfers with an entry fee of $145 per team. Swift Current’s Tim Tisdale won a $5,000 cash prize after hitting a hole-in-one at last year’s tournament.

“I have a soft spot for the college because this is where I went to high school,” said Lee. “I also have a diploma in criminal justice so helping kids has kind of been my forte in life and knowing that this money was going to straight to them made the college a good fit for me.”
