Are you and your young family looking to ring in 2013 with a bang? Check out the Family Fun New Year’s Eve Party being held at the Family Resource Centre.

This will be an action packed event, open to families with kids of all ages from 6 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.  Admission is free, however a snack item for a potluck table is requested, and any donations are appreciated.  Parents must accompany children.

The main event will start off focused on activities for the very little ones, including bouncy houses and carnival style games with prizes, with the first countdown occurring at 8 pm.  Later on we’ll be organizing group activities and enjoying great music followed by the second countdown at 10 pm.  The older kids can dance the night away until the last countdown at 12 midnight.  A glass of ‘bubbly’ will be provided for all in attendance at countdown times!

Throughout the evening there will a photo area available for family photos, a time capsule making station, crafts, board games, preschool playroom full of fun, a raffle table, and fresh popcorn and drinks available for sale at minimal prices.

The evening is being made possible by generous donations from City of Swift Current / In Motion, Innovation Credit Union, Pioneer Co-Op, KIVA  /Christine Ciona, Fine Furniture Oasis, Kal Tire, Sputtergotch Toy Company, Unforgettable You, Yoga Connexion, Slice Athletic Wear, Lions Club of Swift Current, Canadian Tire and Caroline Barrington.

The Family Resource Centre is a non-profit organization funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada and individual donations.  Their mandate is to reach out to the community with parenting programs and support for families to expand and develop their parenting skills with children aged 0-6.   Programs offered include BREAK parent-tot playgroup, parent support groups, Messy Fingers preschool programs, parenting workshops, teen & young parent support, family literacy events, and a new toy/equipment/reference borrowing centre.   They are located in the South West Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (E-Centre) at 885 – 6th Avenue NE.
