Pat Friesen is seeking a seat on Swift Current City Council in the upcoming civic election.

Friesen, who recently retired from her position of Executive Vice President of Marketing at Innovation Credit Union, says that she is looking forward to the possibility of becoming a City Councilor.

“This community has been my home since 1974, and I have always felt that one day I would like to become a part of Council. Since my retirement, I have the time to give back to a community that has provided me with exceptional opportunity and support. It is my goal to ensure that the same opportunity and support continues for generations to come.”

“Previous councils have laid solid groundwork for the City to continue to move forward with its growth strategy,” Friesen said. “Things like record breaking building permits, developing partnerships with other government bodies, the Southwest Integrated Healthcare facility, and increased affordable housing have all contributed to making Swift Current among the best places to live in Canada.”

One of Friesen’s key focuses on council would be further development of regional partnerships and co-operation. “It is vital that we continue to look at all issues on a regional basis in order to gain the maximum benefit for everyone,” she says. “In our regional community, we are interdependent, not only for economic reasons, but also for social well- being. We work, live and play together.”

“Retaining our quality of life requires a balance between growth and responsible spending to meet the economic needs of infrastructure, healthcare, education and keeping our community safe. Culture and recreation are very much a part of who we are and are also a priority for me,” adds Friesen.

“It would be a true honour and privilege to serve the residents of Swift Current with a positive and proactive approach to council. My work experience and previous community involvement will provide me with a solid base to do the best possible job for our city.” says Friesen.
