Report of suspicious vehicle in Swift Current results in arrests and seizure of firearm and drugs

RCMP got a tip which resulted in two arrests in Swift Current.


On June 22 at 1:15 a.m., members of the Swift Current Municipal RCMP Detachment received a report of two suspicious males sitting in a parked vehicle in the industrial area of Swift Current.  Police located the vehicle and the occupants on 19th Avenue NE in Swift Current.
 
Investigation into this matter resulted in police arresting both males and seizing the vehicle which was later determined to be stolen.  The following items were also located and seized by police: a firearm equipped with a silencer, knives, break and enter instruments and stolen license plates.  Police also seized drugs that are believed to be: hydromorphone pills, morphine pills, and 1 gram of methamphetamine.
The males, who were identified as Joseph Robert Hack, 32, and Nathan Charles Mangaard, 30, both from Moose Jaw, SK.


Hack is charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code: possession of Methamphetamine (Section 4(1) CDSA), possession of hydromorphone (Section 4(1) CDSA), possession of morphine (Section 4(1) CDSA), possession of break in tools (section 351(1) CC), possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.00 (Section 355(a) CC), and being the occupant of a vehicle in which he knew there was a prohibited device (firearm equipped with a silencer) (Section 93 CC).

Both appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on June 25 and 26.  Their application for bail was denied and their next appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court is on July 18, 2018.
