Great Plains College hosts 5th Annual Safety Breakfast

The 5th Annual Safety Breakfast at Great Plains College is set to be hosted on March 21. The free hot breakfast is open to all clients, current or interested, who are looking for safety training for themselves or their company.

“We are proud to be a trusted safety training partner for so many businesses and individuals in the community,” said Lyla Cooper, safety training coordinator at Great Plains College. “We love to host this event every year to say thank you to our existing clients, to welcome new clients and to share what’s new and exciting for safety training options at the college.”

The event will provide an update on new classes, custom course options and a schedule of specialty classes for spring breakup for clients in the oil and gas industry. The doors will open at 7 a.m., and the breakfast will run from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tours of the college will be available following the event.

“Many people aren’t aware of our full course offerings, or that we offer customized training for businesses, so it’s a great chance to connect with our clients to ensure they know all of their options and for us to find out how we can better serve their training needs,” added Cooper.

Everyone in attendance will have an opportunity to win prizes, including one of three $100 Co-op gift cards and a $300 travel voucher from Marlin Travel.

Some safety training options available at the college include: ATV and UTV training, Chainsaw Safety, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, Fall Protection for Rig Work and Rig Rescue, Fire Extinguisher, First Aid/CPR, Global Ground Disturbance Levels 1 and 2, H2S Alive, Special Oilfield Boiler Operator and Workplace Fall Protection.

The college also offers Energy Safety Canada-supplied courses each spring, including Detection and Control of Flammable Substances, Safety Management and Regulatory Awareness for Wellsite Supervision, Coiled Tubing Blow Out Prevention and Well Service Blow Out Prevention.
