2018 Field of Dreams fundraiser flying with two famous ex-Jays

The 2017 Western Major Baseball League Champion Swift Current 57’s Baseball Club would like to announce that this year’s Field of Dreams Dinner, presented by Innovation Credit Union, is set to take place Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Swift Current.


The Committee is excited to announce that this the event will feature a couple of former Toronto Blue Jays, Jesse Barfield and Willie Upshaw.
Barfield, a Toronto Sports Legend amassed close to 1300 hits and over 200 Home Runs over a 12 year MLB career. He was an MLB All-Star and Silver Slugger winner in 1986 and was a 2-Time Gold Glove winner in right field.
The Barfield, Moseby Bell combination in the outfield for the Blue Jays teams of the 1980’s is often referred to as one of the greatest outfield combinations in MLB history. Jesse was most recently named in the top 20 on the Sportsnet list of the top 40 Blue Jays of all-time.
Joining Barfield at this year’s event will be Willie Upshaw. Upshaw amassed over 1000 hits and swatted nearly 125 Home Runs over a 10 year MLB career. In 1983 Willie became the first Toronto Blue Jay to reach 100 RBIs in a season and in doing so was in the top 10 for American League MVP award. He was an integral part the Blue Jays first ever division title in 1985 and was most recently named to the Blue Jays Top 40 Players of all- time by Sportsnet.
The evening will begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. There will also be live and silent auctions at the end of the evening. Tickets are $80 for single seats or $600 for a corporate table of eight. The Field of Dreams has operated for nineteen years, and has been a major supporter of our Swift Current  Baseball Club. Some of their most significant projects in support of the ball club include; initial capital for the installation of the light standards, stadium seating at Mitchell Field as well as new uniforms and equipment on a scheduled renewal plan.
