The race is underway to find the Saskatchewan Party candidate to represent Swift Current in the upcoming byelection, following local MLA Brad Wall’s retirement in January.

Born and raised in Swift Current, Derek Robinson is currently the Executive Director of Digital Strategy in Executive Council and the Office of Premier Brad Wall. Derek has served in that capacity for nearly six years helping to amplify Premier Wall’s message in the province and across the country.
“It is an absolute honour to serve Premier Wall, and it is difficult to grasp that his time in politics is nearing an end,” said Robinson. “But, as the Premier has said, now is the time for renewal.”
“I would be humbled to have the opportunity to serve the great people of Swift Current as their MLA – providing a strong voice with renewed energy and a fresh perspective.”
Robinson received his Bachelor’s degree from the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan. He has previously worked as the Communications and New Media Manager for the Saskatchewan Party and also worked in post-secondary education and private business.
Robinson comes from a family of small business owners in Swift Current and has a passion to support entrepreneurs and to see the economy continue to grow.
“My goal is to see families and businesses continue to prosper in Swift Current and across our province,” said Robinson. “From farms and ranches, to energy and construction, to local shops and home-based businesses, I will advocate for their interests, help them attract investment and create good jobs.”
“This economic growth is important because of what it pays for, like health care innovation, new schools, infrastructure and quality of life for all Saskatchewan people.”
Robinson is also Chair of the Board for City Kidz Regina, a non-profit organization supporting children in Regina’s north central community.
Together with his wife Katrina, he is the proud father of two young boys, Eli and Ezrett. They are excited to move back home to Swift Current following a successful nomination.
