With the Saskatchewan Roughriders season already underway, ticket goers may notice Saskatchewan craft beer will not be available in Mosaic Stadium in 2017.

After months of discussions, the Saskatchewan Craft Brewers Association Inc. (SCBA) and representatives from the Saskatchewan Roughriders, City of Regina and Evraz Place were unable to come to an arrangement that would allow Saskatchewan craft beer to pour inside the stadium during Rider games.
“Throughout this lengthy process, our membership made it clear to our board that they placed a priority on an in-stadium presence during Riders games,” said Kari Stenson, President of the SCBA. “Despite the best efforts of all parties involved in these discussions it is clear that no meaningful opportunity exists for Saskatchewan craft beer to flow in the new Mosaic Stadium during Rider games. Both sides presented some creative options but in the end a deal could not be brokered due to existing commercial pouring arrangements and obligations for beer in place for the stadium.
“As a result, the SCBA is unable to endorse any of the options presented – though individual breweries may wish to approach Evraz Place directly to discuss opportunities that might still exist for local beer in and around the stadium,” said Stenson, co-owner of Black Bridge Brewery in Swift Current. “This will no doubt come as a disappointment to our membership and Saskatchewan’s passionate craft beer enthusiasts. The SCBA remains open to further discuss this matter with all parties involved with regard to future seasons to get Saskatchewan craft beer in the stadium during Rider games. We wish the Roughriders well on their inaugural season in the new stadium.”
As a result, unless arrangements can be made between Evraz Place and individual breweries, there will not be a Saskatchewan craft beer presence at Mosaic Stadium for the 2017 season.
The Saskatchewan Craft Brewers Association Inc. is a non-profit corporation which was formed in 2016 and has 13 Saskatchewan craft breweries as members. Among other things, the mandate of the association includes fostering culture, awareness and demand for locally-crafted beer, working with government to advance regulatory review and changes and providing a unified voice for its membership on issues affecting the Saskatchewan craft brewing industry.
