Hypertension has become rampant worldwide among adults over the age of 40, yet there are simple steps that can be taken to reduce the incidence of this silent killer which is the largest epidemic known to mankind.

To help with our local community, we will be participating in World Hypertension Day, May 17, by conducting a community blood pressure screening.
There will be a blood pressure screening at Pharmasave in Swift Current on Wednesday, May 17 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. hosted by Pharmacist  Leah Perrault.
Topics of discussion include:
• How to check your blood pressure at home;
• Choosing a blood pressure monitor for home use;
• Canadian stats, including how someone dies from hypertension-related problems every seven minutes and nine out of 10 Canadians will suffer from hypertension during their lifetime.
• Risk factors and why adults over the age of 40 should know and monitor their blood pressure numbers.
• Simple life-saving lifestyle changes that can be made to reduce high blood pressure.
