Swift Current's volleyball club program showed why it's one of the best in the province over the weekend.

The Jr. Sundogs Volleyball Club is proud to announce that our 14U Boys team finished their season with a Division 1, silver medal. Coming into provincials the 14’s were ranked 8th overall in the province out of 20 teams, giving them a birth into Division #1. The tournament kicked off round robin games Friday night in Saskatoon with a match against the Rouleau Rebels Black. Losing 2 of the 3 sets the Jr. Sundogs continued to struggle against the Rebels as they have all season. Tournament play continued Saturday with a 2 set loss to Yorkton and rebounding with a 2 set win Vs. the Prince Albert Smashing Bananas team Black to finish 3rd in their pool.

Playoffs took place mid afternoon on Saturday with a 3rd Vs. 4th match to determine seeding going into the quarter finals. The match ended in a Win for the Sundogs in 3 sets, 15-25, 25-16 and 15-8.

Sunday’s quarterfinal match Vs. Lloydminster Rustlers didn’t start out well for the Sundogs, but they managed to pull through late in the match to put them in the medal rounds with a 15-11 win in the 3rd set. The semi final match once again had the Sundogs up against the strong boys team from Rouleau. The gold medal match Vs. The Prince Albert Smashing Bananas team Gold didn’t start out the way the Sundogs had hoped. Struggling early in the match they we unable to recover losing the 1st set 11-25. The 2nd set started much the same. Jr. Sundogs struggled early but began to battle back to a 25-22 win to force a 3rd set. Unable to hold the momentum from the 2nd set win the boys lost to the Bananas 7-15, giving them the silver medals.
