The team working towards transitioning the health system to a single Provincial Health Authority (PHA) has announced that Dr. Kevin Wasko, a family physician practising in the Cypress Health Region, has agreed to participate in the work being completed.

Dr. Wasko will serve as a physician co-lead alongside Dr. Bruce Murray, a pathologist in North Battleford and Senior Medical Officer for Prairie North Health Region.

Dr. Wasko’s Swift Current practice is based out of the Association Family Physician Clinic (AFPC).  He also serves as President of the Cypress Regional Medical Association and is on several committees within the Saskatchewan Medical Association.

Both Dr. Wasko and Dr. Murray will join the provincial transition team in early April.  They have committed to share the full-time position by each working within this project half time, 2.5 days per week, for the next several months.  Their work will align with the Clinical Services and Governance work streams leading the areas of bylaws, clinical and operational governance, the academic mandate, and involving physicians across the province in all aspects of transition work.

“I am excited to join the team that will lead the transition to a new provincial health authority and set us on a path to improve health care in Saskatchewan,” noted Dr. Wasko.

Dr. Wasko will continue to practice out of the AFPC on Mondays and Tuesdays and will continue to manage his patients with the assistance of his physician colleagues.
