The contractor is advising motorists and the commercial trucking industry of a bridge closure on Hwy 1 east of Swift Current (city limits), beginning Saturday, March 25. The original start date of March 4 was pushed back due to contractor delays.

During the bridge closure, traffic restrictions will be put in place, which will impact both east and westbound traffic on the TransCanada Highway. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and both lanes will be accommodated on the westbound lane.  The Highway 4 exit ramp onto Highway 1 eastbound will be also closed during project. Motorists will need to use an alternate route, such as the South Service road.

Motorists are advised to obey signs and speed limits, which will be reduced to 60 km/hr. A width restriction of 4.3 metres will also be in place during the project.

The project involves the removing and replacement of the entire superstructure of the bridge. Old girders will be replaced and there will be rehabilitation of the existing abutments and piles.

Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of June.
