Maverick acknowledges White Ribbon Campaign

For the past 15 years, Maverick School in Swift Current has been working to end men’s violence against women by participating in the annual White Ribbon Campaign.

Two 26-year-old men received lengthy jail sentences in a Swift Current court room for their involvement in what the Crown has described as the largest drug trafficking case in Saskatchewan's history.

The Municipal Boundary Committee of the Saskatchewan Municipal Board will rule not later than Feb. 4, 2013 on the City of Swift Current's application for an alteration of boundaries to incorporate the commercial land on the city's western boundary, which is currently located within the R.M. of Swift Current #137.

New and existing businesses in Swift Current continue to benefit from the City’s tax incentive policy.
Councillors approved requests for assessment exemptions from three businesses during a regular council meeting Nov. 26.

The Swift Current area has made it onto the shortlist as one of two potential sites for a proposed project that will help SaskPower to meet future electrical demands in the province.

Swift Current’s local Grandmothers to Grandmothers group is gearing up for their winter fundraiser, to help raise money and awareness for the Stephen Lewis Foundation – a grassroots organization that works at supporting grandmothers and orphans on the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic in Africa.
