LGBT pride month recognized in Swift Current

This year, Swift Current celebrated LGBT Pride month with a special event hosted at the Lyric Theatre on June 5.

The positive contributions of individuals and organizations in support of local youth were highlighted during the Swift Current & District Drug Task Force recognition luncheon at the Center on May 30.

Duck Derby raises close to $6,000

Despite the rainy weather earlier in the day, the 25th Anniversary Duck Derby ran as scheduled on June 2 during the Picnic Inn the Park.

Patients in the Cypress Health Region who are living with kidney disease will soon have better access to treatment.  The hemodialysis unit at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current will increase its capacity from the current 12 patients to 18 by end of 2013 with the opportunity for further expansion to 24 patients in total.

Three male youths from Swift Current have been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

After spending a week living in the courtyard at Swift Current Comprehensive High School, the members of the Student Leadership Council are glad to be back at home.

The difference that everyone can make to the lives of youth was highlighted during the 9th annual Mayor’s luncheon for the Swift Current branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).
