The City of Swift Current announced on Aug. 16 that sewer and water main work will soon commence on a portion of South Railway Street West. The work required will allow for the development of a new business located directly west of Treen Meats.

There are more than 50,000 Canadians affected by neuromuscular disorder including 250 persons in Saskatchewan. 

They came to Swift Current to do kickflips, show off their boardslides and to get as high as possible into the air.

The Swift Current Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association hosts the 17th Annual Jimmy Richardson Walk for Wellness Sept. 14.

The effort of a nine-year-old Swift Current boy to help out people in need has resulted in his nomination as a contestant in the Scotiabank Game Changers competition.

Garbage collection delays in Swift Current

The City of Swift Current has been notified by its waste collection contractor, Waste Management, that due to mechanical failures on two of the three garbage trucks there will be delays in residential garbage collection this week.

Harvest time will have a special significance for staff at Rock Solid Refuge this fall when the crop planted for its new fundraising initiative will be gathered.

Temporary street closure in Swift Current next week

The City of Swift Current would like to advise the public that 19th Avenue NE between Bell Street and Laurier Drive will be temporarily closed during the 2013 Westerns for Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget Divisions from Friday, August 16th to Sunday, August 18.
