Agriculture Canada layoffs in Swift Current

With downsizing at the PFRA causing layoffs to Agriculture Canada employees throughout Saskatchewan, Swift Current’s Semiarid Prairie Agricultural Research Centre (SPARC) is already looking at staffing cuts.

With this year’s MS Walk coming up May 26, organizers are hard at work setting up for the big day.

The Swift Current Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs are getting ready to host the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis May 26, at 8 a.m. at Riverside Park. The walk will begin at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

The Swift Current RCMP is investigating a number of break-ins and damage to buildings on the Kinetic Exhibition Park grounds.

Community and business groups will be able to learn more about how they can be part of the City of Swift Current’s 100th birthday during a session May 28.

On Friday, May 17 at approximately 10 p.m., a jogger was hit from behind while crossing the intersection at 3rd NE and Cheadle Street East by the Swift Current Fire Hall.
