Schuler School is proof a quality education can be delivered in a rural setting. The school underwent its review recently and the results were positive with recommendations from Prairie Rose School Division central office staff deemed “fine-tuning.”

Prairie Rose School Division Board trustees approved themselves a one per cent raise effective  Jan. 1. Every year the Trustee Honorarium and Expense Reimbursement Policy is amended and upon approval by trustees, increases in honorariums are given based on the increase in the grant funding to schools from Alberta Education.

Snowboarders get first taste of competition

Four southeast Alberta snowboarders took part in a snowboard cross competition in Lake Louise in January with one earning a second place finish in the under 12 category.

City of Brooks officials are hoping to see a large number of businesses show just how diversity-friendly they are through the City’s acknowledgment program. Started in 2012, there were more than 30 businesses who shared their best practices in promoting equity in the labour market.

Succession planning seminar set for Feb. 13

Interest in succession planning is growing and officials with the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta’s Agriculture Committee are hoping to see a large turnout at the upcoming Training the Next Generation full-day seminar.
It is set to take place Feb. 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Higdon Hall on the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds.

Foremost girls’ basketball players had an eye-opening experience over the Christmas break and bonded even more as team, thanks to competing in the 13th Annual Cactus Jam Phoenix Hoop Classic.
