Swift Current was voted 50th best place to live in Canada.

“It’s nice recognition for Swift Current,” said Mayor Jerrod Schafer.

“When you’re within your own community it’s very easy to be critical of things, or want things better, so it’s nice to have some outside commentary that shows we stack up pretty well against, not only other cities in Saskatchewan, but there’s a whole pile of cities right across Canada.”

MoneySense Magazine’s list compiled the top 180 places to live. Swift Current moved up 32 places from last year, and was behind only Saskatoon (15) and Regina (23) in the province.

Cities were ranked on a variety of factors that included: weather, job prospects, affordable housing, access to health care, population growth, and low crime rate.

“I’m very excited to be in the city of Swift Current, about the progress and the growth, and of course quality of life is certainly moving up the line,” said Susan Motkaluk, City Chief Administrative Officer.

“Being voted 50th best city to live in is an exciting accomplishment, and I’m determined to even improve on that over the years.”
