The Cypress Health Region would like to congratulate Nurse Practitioner Mikki Millar, RN (NP), on her earning the Heather Keith Award at the 2011 Saskatchewan Association of Nurse Practitioners Annual General Meeting/Conference in Saskatoon on May 12-13.

The award is presented to a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner working in Saskatchewan who has demonstrated excellence in leadership in nursing and a commitment to the community through volunteer work. Millar was nominated for the award by her peers.

Mikki has continually demonstrated her leadership skills during her time in Cypress, working hard to initiate, develop, and implement various support programs such as the Farm Safety program and the Biggest Loser Weight Loss program. She has assisted her nursing colleagues through training and testing for Ankle Brachial Index testing for Peripheral Artery Disease, Lower Limb Assessments, and Spirometry testing. She has become skilled at finding innovative ways to make health work for her patients in a rural Saskatchewan setting.

“Mikki has worked hard to win the hearts and the trust of people in both Leader, Eatonia, and surrounding communities. She has an innovative approach to managing change and it shows through her high standing in the communities which she works,” commented Shannon Chernoff, a Nurse Practitioner working for the Cypress Health Region in Leader. “Mikki shows the utmost respect for her colleagues and is always willing to guide others along the way. She is truly deserving of this award.”
Originally from Dodson, Montana, USA, Mikki Millar has been practicing nursing in Canada since 1999. After completing her nurse practitioner training through SIAST in 2004, Mikki has been working as a Nurse Practitioner for the past five years in Eatonia and Leader.
