At approximately 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, members of the Shaunavon RCMP detachment observed funnel clouds in the Shaunavon area.
Members are also reporting that severe hail storms have also occurred in the area.  The hail was making it difficult for motorists to navigate the local highways.

Members from Shaunavon are currently on scene 3 miles north of Shaunavon on Highway #37 assisting SaskPower with traffic control where the lines were downed.
Damage has been reported as follows:
North of the town on Highway #37, some farm granaries were reportedly damaged and thrown from their original location.  Power poles have been damaged at several locations in the outlying rural area.  SaskPower is currently working to restore power caused by the storm.
At this time, police have no reports of any injuries.  However, the public is advised to stay off the Highways in general, and in particular on Highway #37 because of downed live power lines.  The RCMP is advising citizens to be vigilant and be aware that severe weather can be dangerous.  The storm appears to be tracking towards the community of Scotsgard but the best source of information on the current weather situation and/or warnings would be the Environment Canada website.
