With the floods already beginning in the province, there is no time like the present to begin disaster training.

The Salvation Army, which is the lead relief agency in Haiti and is actively involved in emergency disaster relief in Japan and around the world is offering disaster training here in Swift Current on Saturday 16 April 2011. There are three options for which people can choose:

1. Preparing your congregation (or service group) for disaster;

2. Emotional and Spiritual Care - this is a more advanced course;

3. Disaster Food Service: Safe Food Handling and Delivery in a Disaster

These courses are all taught by experienced, qualified instructors and if the participants successfully complete any of these courses they will be awarded certification in that area. This training certification will come in handy both for helping out here in Saskatchewan and also throughout the world. For those who do successfully complete their training there will be the opportunity to add your name to both a local and an international call-out list so that, if you so desire, you can be called upon to help out in Emergencies.

It is only $25 for the day.

Training runs from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.

The Salvation Army will even have one of our mobile disaster kitchens here. For more information or to pick up an application from call 306-778-0515 or drop by 780 1St Ave. NW The Salvation Army ASAP.
