SaskWest Mechanical has backed away from its bid to install new boilers at Shaunavon High School.

The company submitted the winning bid of $214,000 but did not accept the job after it realized they forgot to include a control system in their estimate.

Since SaskWest Mechanical rejected the offer to take on the project, the Chinook School Division approached the next lowest bidder, Pioneer Co-op, to install the boilers. Pioneer’s bid was $271,251 and it beat out two other companies.

The project is expected to start at Shaunavon High School as soon as the boilers arrive. The division expects the boilers to be installed before temperatures start to drop this fall.
