The Chinook School Division will hold its first two public consultations regarding its new school and the effect it will have throughout the city for June 7 and 13.

The public consultation meeting set for May 7 will be held at Fairview School while the May 13 event will be held at Ashley Park School. Both meetings are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Representatives from the Chinook School Division will make a presentation and will listen to concerns or information members of the public are willing to put forward on the project.

Chinook has received funding to build a new joint school with the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division.
The plan is to build the new schools, which will offer pre-kindergarten to Grade 8, on the northeast edge of Swift Current near the Cypress Regional Hospital.

In order to avoid ostracizing people in the southern part of the city, Chinook is planning to reconfigure the grades offered at Fairview School. Representatives from Chinook aren't sure what grades will be offered at Fairview, but that is part of what will be discussed at the consultations.

Both consultation meetings are open to all members of the public.
