Teachers, government still at bargaining table

Two weeks after Saskatchewan teachers held a one-day study session, their representatives were still trying to find a solution to the contract dispute.

Saskatchewan teachers have been without a contract since Aug. 31, 2010 and were asking for a 12 per cent wage increase over one year.

The government was offering 5.5 per cent over three years.

As of press time, the two sides were still at the table trying to reach an agreement.

If the two sides fail to reach an agreement, the parties may apply for arbitration.
