The Government of Saskatchewan announced today that 50 child-care spaces have been allocated to Swift Current's Trailview Alliance Church.

The church submitted a feasibility study to the government last year requesting seats for a proposed day-care facility. Now it has been allocated seats, committee members at the church need to determine whether the building can be adapted to meet day-care regulations.

It will take approximately one month to determine if the church will follow through with the project.

The province allocated up to 513 seats to 13 Saskatchewan communities in its announcement.

"Our province is growing, and the demand for child-care spaces continues to increase as more parents enter the workforce or pursue post-secondary education," said Education Minister Donna Harpauer.

Over the past four years, the Government of Saskatcheawan has made a record investment in licensed child care, allocating funding for 3,435 new child-care spaces to communities across the province.
