Woman from Swift Current involved in the Elrose accident which claimed six lives

A tragic accident near Elrose claimed the lives of six people. including a woman from Swift Current.


At approximately 4:35 p.m. on Friday June 29, Rosetown RCMP responded to a report of a collision in the northbound lane of Hwy #4 south of Rosetown near the community of Elrose. Two SUVs had collided head-on. All six occupants were declared deceased at the scene.
The driver and lone occupant of one SUV was a 71 year old female from the Swift Current area.
The five people in the other SUV included a 26 year old male, a 28 year old female and three children ages 6, 4 and 2. All from the same immediate family from the Rosetown area.
At this time, the investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing. Two RCMP Traffic Reconstructionists responded to the scene and their reports will take some time to complete. The scene was cleared in the early morning hours of June 30 and the highway has re-opened to traffic. The Provincial Coroner's Office is assisting in this matter as is Victim Services. The appropriate mental health supports are also being offered to RCMP members.
