The Saskatchewan Party announced that 27,125 party members will be eligible to vote in the upcoming leadership election, scheduled for January 27.

The Saskatchewan Party’s membership has nearly tripled from the 9,500 members it had at the time of Premier Brad Wall’s retirement announcement on August 10, 2017.  It is also the highest number of members the Saskatchewan Party has ever had at one time.
“The Saskatchewan Party is so excited to have this many members eligible to vote for the next Saskatchewan Party leader and Premier of Saskatchewan,” said Patrick Bundrock, Executive Director for the Saskatchewan Party.
The Saskatchewan Party also announced that 13,973 members - slightly over half of the total membership number - had never held a Saskatchewan Party membership before the beginning of the leadership race. Bundrock said he was encouraged by the renewal and involvement in the race to elect the new Premier.
“This kind of massive growth in our party membership is exactly what Premier Wall meant when he talked about renewing the party following his retirement,” Bundrock said. “With so many brand-new members – in addition to those that have renewed their membership recently – the Saskatchewan Party is in a strong position not only for the leadership election, but for the 2020 general election as well.”
The Saskatchewan Party will be sending out ballot packages to members in the coming days, with the deadline for members to return their mail-in ballots to the Saskatchewan Party by January 26, 2018, at 5PM. Members can also vote in-person at the leadership convention on January 27, 2018, at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.
Details of the leadership convention can be found at www.saskparty.com/leadershipconvention
