The City of Swift Current has developed a plan of action for distribution of utility bills and accounts payable cheques as well as payment of property taxes during the Canada-wide postal strike.

Utility bills

Utility bills for approximately 33% of customers are sitting with Canada Post. The City has reprinted these bills, marked the envelope with a fluorescent DUPLICATE UTILITY BILL sticker (located in the upper right corner of the envelope), and will be hand-delivering them to customers this week.
When the postal strike is over customers from the first bill run will receive their original June bill in the mail - customers should please take care to only pay their June bill once.

Remaining June bills will be hand-delivered at their scheduled times until the postal strike is over. These bills will be marked as hand-delivered.
P.O. Box addresses will not be hand-delivered. Customers with a P.O. Box are asked to please contact the City of Swift Current for your bill total amount.

Property tax payments

Tax payments are due and payable to the City of Swift Current on or before June 30, 2011. If your payment is with Canada Post but postmarked prior to the June 30 due date the City will waive any late fees and interest charges.
For those yet to pay their property taxes the following methods can be used: o in person at City Hall, Monday to Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm; o Night deposit box located on the west side of City Hall; o Alternate methods of delivery available to you.

If you have any tax-related questions, please call the City of Swift Current Tax Department at 778-2704.

Accounts payable cheques

Any individuals or businesses expecting payment from the City of Swift Current for goods or services provided can call the City of Swift Current Accounts Payable Department at 778-2705 to make alternate arrangements to receive payment until such time as the postal strike has been resolved.
