Chinook School Division updates Wednesday (9 a.m.) the school closures due to devastating wind and wildfires

Due to wildfire evacuation orders in the communities and surrounding areas, Burstall School, Leader Composite School and Haven Colony School will be closed on Wednesday, October 18 and until further notice.
 


Tompkins, MCCS and Sidney Street School will also be closed on Wednesday until further notice, as power was cut in Maple Creek and Tompkins for fire prevention. Please check for updates as we expect power to be restored by noon.
 
Fox Valley School will remain open for students to attend, although classes will be cancelled for the day.
For schools that remain open in nearby communities, bus routes may be affected in areas where evacuation orders and alerts are in place. Drivers of those routes will contact families if their bus service is cancelled as per standard procedure.
 
The following schools are closed today. Please check back our Facebook post for updates as we may continue to add to the list early this morning and a closure status may change if power is restored:
