Trikoot Real Estate Services will switch hands effective April 1.

Trevor Koot sold the company to Terry Highet for an undisclosed sum.

“When it presented itself as an opportunity to purchase a property management company it seemed like a no-brainer,” said Highet.

She worked as a manager with TriKoot for the past four years, and has around 20 years of property management experiences.

“She has essentially ran the company for the past couple of years anyway,” said Koot. “She is completely and entirely capable of continuing on the way we’ve been going.”

Koot will continue to work in the industry.

“It frees me up to do what I enjoy most which is working with investors, and more the commercial side of things, so I’m going to focus on that,” he said.
“I’ll still be involved in the real estate industry in a round-about way, and the rental industry be working with landlords from a consulting and a sales perspective.”

Highet indicated rent would not be affected by the sale.

“We do fee management, so we don’t own the buildings that we manage,” she said.

TriKoot will continue to operate under the same name for brand recognition.

The company was first launched in July of 2008, and manages more than 400 properties in Swift Current.
