Gravelbourg man arrested on drugs and firearms charges after traffic stop

On Friday, February 17, at 8 p.m., Gravelbourg RCMP initiated a traffic stop on Highway #58 for a Vehicle Equipment Regulations Act violation.

 

The driver was arrested under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act and 6.6 grams of crack cocaine and a large sum of currency were also located.
 
A subsequent search warrant was executed at a residence near Gravelbourg by Gravelbourg and Ponteix RCMP. 27.2 grams of crack cocaine was located. 23 firearms were seized that were not stored or secured properly, including a sawed off shotgun.
 
73-year-old Robert Arams of Gravelbourg, is charged with:
1 count of Resist Arrest, Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code.
2 counts of Unsafe Storage of Firearms, Section 86(2) of the Criminal Code.
Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code.
Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Section 88(2) of the Criminal Code.
Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Possession of Cocaine, Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Arams will appear in Provincial Court in Assiniboia, SK, on Thursday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m.
