Rachel’s Challenge is far more than just another school assembly, and on Oct. 4 students at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School and the community at large will get a chance to experience it for themselves.


Cypress Hills MLA Wayne Elhard on behalf of Education Minister Donna Harpauer attended the grand opening of Maple Creek Composite School along with students, staff, board members and community members. The celebration featured a ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches by Wayne Elhard, Mayor Barry Rudd, Deputy School Division Director Kyle McIntyre, and Board Chair Randy Beler.

Sask. Ministry of Education approves Chinook budget

The Ministry of Education has approved the Chinook School Division’s 2011-2012 budget. According to Board Chair, Randy Beler, this is a budget that will allow Chinook to advance its educational priorities and those of the province while remaining fiscally responsible.

Gerry Desrochers of Vestas – Canadian Wind Technology and Great Plains College president David Francis were among those on hand at the Swift Current Airport today as Vestas donated a wind turbine blade to the college’s new Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician program. The donated blade was previously damaged in a tornado but has never been used, making it ideal for the program’s needs.
