CHDA hosts long table dinner Sept. 23

The Cypress Hills Destination Area is once again hosting a long table dinner event Sept. 23, with this year’s focus on the ranching and farming communities of Saskatchewan’s southwest.

This past June, a group of people from southwest Saskatchewan had the opportunity to work side-by-side with villagers (and survivors) in one of the poorest countries on the planet.

A horseback ride in the Cypress Hills Inter-Provincial Park is a breath-taking experience that one should not pass up if the opportunity presents itself, but knowing a participant is riding to help sick children’s dreams come true makes the experience that much more meaningful.

The capital expansion project in Leader is reaching new milestones within the construction process and continues to be on track to open in summer 2018.

Saskatchewan Party to elect new leader Jan. 27

Following a meeting of the provincial council, the Saskatchewan Party announced Aug. 19 that a new leader will be elected at a leadership convention on Jan. 27, 2018, in Saskatoon.

Community Futures Beautification returns this summer for 22 communities in Southwest Saskatchewan.

A commemorative plaque was unveiled in Gull Lake on National Peacekeepers’ Day to recognize the sacrifice of Capt. Keith Mirau, who grew up in the town and died 43 years ago when a Canadian military aircraft was shot down while on peacekeeping duties in the Middle East.
