The City of Swift Current is planning to require criminal record checks for candidates in the upcoming municipal election.

While Terry Carleton has been surprised by the amount of attention his custom-built 1934 Ford pickup has been receiving since last year, he is also very proud that the vehicle is the result of technical expertise based in Swift Current.

The success of the Cypress Hills Destination Area (CHDA) Inc. as a destination marketing organization for the Cypress Hills and surrounding area was featured as a case study at the annual conference of the Saskatchewan Economic Development Association (SEDA).

The Saskatchewan government announced the elimination of provincial funding to five urban parks in the province, including the Chinook Parkway in Swift Current, in the 2016-17 provincial budget.

Students at Herbert School enjoyed a day of fun activities on June 8 after the school received a grant of $2,000 from the At My Best program.

There were presentations on a wide range of topics at the annual conference of the Saskatchewan Economic Development Association (SEDA) in Swift Current.

The first move of residents into the new long-term care facility in Swift Current, called The Meadows, took place on June 5.

The Saskatoon bluegrass band In With The Old visited southwest Saskatchewan last week as part of the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Society's Youth Bluegrass Engagement Tour.

Duck Derby in Swift Current, June 5, 2016

The 28th annual Southwest Crisis Services Duck Derby took place at Riverside Park in Swift Current on June 5 in conjunction with Innovation Credit Union's 35th annual Picnic in the Park. Almost 1,000 plastic ducks were dropped into the creek to float down to the finish line at Lee Lam bridge. The event raised $4,140 to support Southwest Crisis Services programs and services, including the safe shelter, crisis line, outreach programs for women, men, children, youth, families and couples, as well as violence prevention education and second-stage housing.
