When one hears the phrase about wanting to “give back to the community” it’s usually because someone wants to do something beneficial because they feel fortunate to be part of the town in which they are residing.

Saskatchewan recently has had a disgusting record when it comes to impaired driving. Pathetic, actually.

With the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce having just honoured its best businesses Oct. 14 with the Spirit of Swift Current Awards, it’s fitting that some more city businesses were honoured provincially Oct. 22.

The Brooks Chamber of Commerce honoured its best Oct. 21 during its annual Business of the Year Awards Gala at the Heritage Inn which also featured high-profile Calgary Flames executive Brian Burke.

When the Honourable Stephanie McLean, provincial minister of Service Alberta and the Status of Women, addressed a crowd of mostly women in the Crowfoot Room at the Medicine Hat College Oct. 20, she asked how many were considering running in the next provincial election or office in general.
