The ninth annual SunDogs Auction Extravaganza is set to take place on May 1 and tickets are now available.

Last year, the auction raised nearly $21,000 for the Great Plains College SunDogs Athletics program, once again breaking the previous year’s record announced total of $19,500. More than $130,000 has been raised since the inaugural auction in 2007 thanks to the generous support of local businesses and attendees.
“Looking back over the past eight auctions, we are grateful for the support the community has shown the student athletes and the SunDogs Athletics program,” said Michel Cyrenne, Great Plains College director of development.
“We believe our SunDogs Athletics program is a differentiator for both the college and the region,” Cyrenne added. “Community support from people and businesses such as our platinum sponsors, Melhoff Electric and Kal Tire and the auction’s media sponsor Magic 97.1 FM, is what makes the SunDogs Auction, and in turn the athletics program, successful.”
Some of the big ticket items up for bid at this year’s auction include a 48-inch Samsung LED television, a $1,000 travel voucher from Marlin Travel, a pair of Shania Twain concert tickets in Saskatoon with a one-night stay at the Best Western and a pair of tickets to the long-awaited Madonna concert in Edmonton, which will include a two-night stay at the Best Western.
The SunDogs Athletics program provides student athletes with an opportunity to achieve both athletic and academic goals while attending Great Plains College. Repeatedly proving to be real winners both on and off the court, student athletes continually demonstrate a dedication to success and teamwork.
Studying at the Swift Current Campus, the SunDogs student athletes are a vital contributor to the life and enthusiasm of the campus and community. Great Plains College is the only regional college in Saskatchewan participating in the Prairie Athletic Conference, a varsity program that supports and promotes student athletes locally and throughout Saskatchewan.
Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at Great Plains College or by phoning 306-778-5482. Visit for more information and a list of auction items.
