Anytime one is recognized nationally, it’s an impressive achievement. When a person is nominated for an award which recognizes helping young or inexperienced people succeed, it’s even greater. This is where current Medicine Hat resident and former Swift Current resident Ryan Jackson finds himself.

Summer is approaching and every parent's nightmare is watching their children become stationary lumps on the couch — either watching Netflix, playing with some sort of gaming system or fiddling with a smartphone.

This spring, Medicine Hat College (MHC) will launch a new distance learning model at their Brooks campus. The pilot project will offer two university transfer courses from May 5 until the end of June, via videoconferencing. Students who register will receive 50% off of the tuition.

Starting in May 2014, Medicine Hat College instructor James Kuehn will provide the public an opportunity to learn the basics of 3D printing.
