Heritage Day celebrations set to take place in Nobleford

Nobleford Heritage Day activities are set for the August long weekend.


Events get underway on Friday, Aug. 5 with a drive-in movie night hosted by the Nobleford Parks and Recreation Society and sponsored by Kal-Tire and Axis Mortgage Inc.


Those attending can park their vehicles on the east side of the community complex prior to the family movie getting underway at 9:30 p.m. A second movie will be show at 11 p.m.


The cost to enjoy the evening is by donation with proceeds to go toward the spray and play park. There will also be a concession stand set up.


Saturday, Aug. 6 will feature numerous activities for both children and adults.


At 8 a.m. a pancake breakfast takes place at the Nobleford Curling Club. Bidders can peruse silent auction items, which have been donated by local businesses, at the community complex.


A parade will get underway at 10 a.m. starting at the UFA. Following the parade, there will be sandwiches and a bake sale at the senior centre and the grand opening of the Splash Park.


From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. a trade show will take place at Noble Central School, local artistic talent will be displayed at the community complex and a beer garden will be set up behind that facility.


At noon until 2 p.m., visitors can enjoy burgers and hotdogs near the community complex, hosted by the Monarch Reformed Church members.


Also at that same time there will be children’s activities including face painting for $3 per child. A petting zoo will be set up from 1-4 p.m. and horse rides (for $2) will take place 2-4 p.m. The horses are provided by Gerda and Koos Brobbel and sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Society.


The Nobleford Ag Society has helped bring inflatables near the community complex to be set up from 1-5 p.m.


There will be a musical entertainment/open mic session in the afternoon as well as Go-Karts provided by Kal-Tire on the corner of Kipp Street and Railway Avenue.


The day winds down with a supper at the community complex starting at 5 p.m.
