Update: One man dead after single vehicle rollover northeast of Cardston

A single rollover northeast of Cardston has left one man dead on the holiday weekend.


On July 2 at 4:45 p.m., Cardston RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover near St. Mary's dam area. A 40 year old male, Joseph Ironshirt from Fort Macleod, believed to be the driver, was pronounced dead on the scene. Four  passengers were transported to hospital in Lethbridge. One of them suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by STARS to hospital in Calgary.

His passengers included a 38 year old male, a 24 year old female, a 22 year old female, and a 5 year old boy, all from Fort Macleod.  All four passengers were transported to hospital, however, there is no update available on their status.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factor in this collision. The incident remains under investigation by Cardston RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP collision analyst.
