Single vehicle rollover on Highway 3 at Range Road 63 leaves one seriously injured

A single vehicle rollover just outside of Medicine Hat has left one man seriously injured and another one with several charges pending against him.


On June 29, at approximately 4:30 a.m., members of the Redcliff RCMP Detachment, as well as an RCMP Collision Analyst, members of the Medicine Hat Police Service, Medicine Hat Emergency Medical Services and the Medicine Hat Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 3 just east of Range Road 63, near the City of Medicine Hat limits.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2001 Chevrolet pick-up truck was eastbound on Highway 3 and left the roadway, causing it to roll multiple times.
One passenger, a 22-year-old male resident of Medicine Hat, was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to Calgary Foothills Hospital, having received serious, life-threatening injuries. The second passenger, a 17-year-old female resident of Medicine Hat, was also treated and transported to Calgary Foothills Hospital having received serious, non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old male resident of Medicine Hat, was taken into police custody a short distance away from the scene.
The driver was treated for minor injuries and released from hospital. Several alcohol-related driving charges are pending against the driver. Both alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors in this collision.
