Albertans are being asked for their input on the recommendations from an advisory council for the southern Alberta regional plan, under the Land-use Framework.

The South Saskatchewan Regional Advisory Council recommended the regional plan focus on issues such as water supply, conservation needs and economic development.

Albertans now have a say on this advice.

The recommendations and an on-line workbook are available at: www.landuse.alberta.ca.

The deadline to submit a workbook is Dec. 19.

The government will conduct public sessions on the advice in southern Alberta next fall.

“The individuals who sat on the advisory council know southern Alberta and the challenges in that region, and their recommendations underline that we need long-term, co-ordinated planning to balance the need for growth, jobs and conservation,” said Sustainable Resource Development Minister Mel Knight.

“We will take the advice and the input from Albertans and develop the draft regional plan.”
