High winds, grass fire causing havoc near Granum

Volker Stevin with the assistance of Fort Macleod RCMP and Claresholm RCMP are redirecting traffic on Highway 2 at Highway 519.  Northbound traffic is currently stopped and Southbound traffic is being rerouted to Highway 519.

Currently they are dealing with multiple vehicle rollovers, and a fire which is crossing the highway at that location.

It is unknown when the highway will be safe to re-open.

Please consider traveling via an alternate route, or delaying travel today — especially larger vehicles such as transport trucks.   The high winds in the area are causing most of the problems there.
