The County of Lethbridge has lifted the evacuation on the areas of Township 8-22 and 9-22 which include Mountain Meadows, Sunset Acres and the surrounding area.

There are still downed power poles and lines, and Fortis has issued a warning to residents to stay at least 10 metres away. “It is critical that residents keep a safe distance from these downed lines,” said Darryl Beaton, Emergency Service Coordinator for the County of Lethbridge.

If residents have any concerns they are to contact Fortis at 310-WIRE.

The County suggests residents returning home begin documenting and photographing any damages and to contact their insurance companies immediately.

Fire crews will continue to monitor conditions over the next few days.
Lorne Hickey, Reeve of the County of Lethbridge said, “We are fortunate that this emergency was handled in a timely manner.  We want to thank our police and fire crews for their hard work and dedication and the community for their patience and understanding.”

The cause of the fires is under investigation.
