The City of Brooks is pleased to announce that Alberta RCMP Crime Mapping is now available online and will provide timely information to the public on the following crime types: mischief, missing persons, break and enters, stolen vehicles, theft from motor vehicles and theft under and over $5,000.

The RCMP chose crime types that have the greatest potential for deterrence through crime prevention strategies, such as public engagement and reporting suspicious activity.
On the crime map found at http://www.brooks.ca/280/Maps, the public can see the approximate location of
the crime, the file number and the date it was reported to the police. Crimes will remain on the map for 14 days before removal, so that the map can continue to show current crime trends.
The RCMP hopes that the map will encourage citizens to report suspicious activity, which will strengthen their intelligence gathering capability and help them make arrests. “Reducing our crime rates in Brooks cannot be achieved through policing alone," says Staff Sergeant Chris Zanidean. "A cooperative approach that includes the public is the key to community safety.”
