At approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, a female patron was pulled from the lap pool in the EID Aquatic Centre. After being removed from the water, the  patron was unresponsive and staff and a bystander began performing CPR.

At the time of EMS’ arrival, the patron was breathing on her own and was transported to Brooks Health Centre.

The EID Aquatic Centre was closed for approximately one hour after the incident occurred. In order to respect the privacy of the patron and their family, no additional information will be released by the City.
The City of Brooks would like to thank the bystanders that assisted staff in the emergency response and the EMS members that attended the facility and assumed care of the patron.
