The Medicine Hat Women in Business Committee hosted over 100 women at their annual Wine and Cheese Networking Event, on Tuesday Oct. 3 at the Esplanade.

The evening was dedicated to building connections, supporting a local cause, and enjoying wine and snacks donated by Paul Howe Liquor Stores, McBride’s Bakery, and Deerview Meats.
This free event raised over $700 in donations to support the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society. Numerous attendees reported appreciation for the opportunity to network with local women in business and stated they look forward to attending the event again next year.
For the new 2017/2018 year, the Women in Business Committee welcomed five new members; Kali Carlson, Nadine Kirschenman, Lyndsay McBride, Sandra Moore, and Kristen Skjonsby. These new members will be joining the following returning members to make up the 2017/2018 Women in Business Committee; Sarah Friesen, Erinn Hansford, Brooke Hawker (Chair), Melissa Hozack, Mila Joubert, Julia Lacey, Randi Perry, and Jill Scherer.
Each year the Committee also donates excess funds from the previous year to a local charity. This year, $2,700 from the 2016/2017 Women in Business year was donated to the Medicine Hat College Foundation Pathways Fund program.
We would also like to announce the 2017/2018 Women in Business sponsors; Burns Valkenburg & Associates (Wisdom Sponsor), Redcliff Pharmasave, 640 Professional Building (Inspire Sponsors), Evoke Inspired Marketing, Medicine Hat College Department of Business, RBC Royal Bank, Pentool Creative, and Grand Rental Station (Betterment Sponsors).
They would like to thank our sponsors and the women who participate in our events. They  look forward to working with our new members and sponsors to further the success of our events this year.
Going forward, the Women in Business Committee is now planning our upcoming Empowerment Day to be held on Friday February 2, 2018 at the Medicine Hat Lodge. Please follow us on Facebook or Twitter @WIBMedicineHat for updates on this event.
