On Friday, November 3, we will be celebrating our fifth annual Random Act of Kindness Day in Medicine Hat!

Community groups, schools, businesses, media, charities, service clubs, families and more are anticipated to execute thousands of acts of kindness on Random Act of Kindness Day. This event has been brought to life by the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) who is also celebrating – 25 years of local philanthropic giving!
Medicine Hat is home to compassionate, caring individuals who share kindness daily, do it spontaneously and for random people. RAK Day encourages planned acts of kindness in combination with all of the anonymous/random acts of kindness that take place throughout the year to make kindness contagious. City of Medicine Hat’s City Council recognizes the importance of doing for others in Medicine Hat and has voted that the first Friday in November will be recognized locally, as “Random Act of Kindness Day”.
Many businesses, organizations, and individuals in Southeastern Alberta have taken up this “call for kindness” and are letting us know how they are going to #gobekind on November 3rd (and all through the year) via our social media:

“The Community Foundation’s focus has always been philanthropy, and RAK Day is just another extension of that mandate. Being generous and caring is a simple way to create stronger communities and a sense of belonging,” says Chris Christie, Executive Director of the CFSEA. “This event has taken on a life of its own in the past five years and we really encourage businesses, schools, and the rest of the community to take action on November 3rd and throughout the year, being kind to everyone they meet.”
Lisa Kosolofski, Community Engagement Coordinator for the CFSEA notes how simple it is to participate: “There are many different ways to #GoBeKind and most of them do not cost anything except time and effort”, she says. “It’s a win-win when you reach out and connect with others – you feel great and so does the person you are helping.”
