Fire north of Taber damages home

On Tuesday October 4 at approximately 12:20 p.m. Taber/Vauxhall RCMP and Taber Fire Department were called to a residence that was on fire north of Taber on Range Road 165.

Two witnesses passing by the house saw the fire and assisted the home owner safely out of his residence. There was no injuries to the home owner however the house was totally consumed by the fire.

Preliminary Evacuations were done to the north and south of the residence as there was a threat of explosion from a large propane tank that was on the property.

A portion of the Range Road was blocked by Taber Police Service to ensure everyone's safety while the fire was being contained. RLS and TWH Water Hauling attended to assist with the fire as well.

Cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is being investigated.
